After the very successful introduction and acceptance of the market P+S TECHNIK is introducing and implementing additional important features and tools for the SteadyFrame Universal Format Filmscanner as:
- The Advanced Job Management enabling
- batch digitizing by using Time- & Key Code information and EDL-Import
- calibration of camera and light settings can be saved for the reproducibility of any project, job or film stock.
- On the fly reading of optical and magnetic sound
- Automatic Splice Repair Option
- Enhanced Image Analysis Tool with implemented live scope views as Parade Display, Waveform Display, Component Vectorscope and Histogram.
- An additional output allows the immediate preview on a calibrated monitor to check and prove the look for the further digital workflow.
- Last not least in Q1 2010 we will offer an upgrade path for up to 4K resolution and a speed upgrade.
These are the logical and consequent further developments resulting from the feedback of our existing clients and partners. Meanwhile a number of facilities around the world have tested and affirmed the quality of this state-of-the art digital film scanner.
The perfect concept for scanning great quantities in short time at a high quality without harming the sensitive archive film stock and its dependability and the intuitive design to meet the demands for a high quality but cost effective solution convinced customers around the world quickly so that already 9 machines are installed in this short period. Beside the huge advantages coping brittle, shrunk or warped material for quite a number of customers the SteadyFrame Universal Format Filmscanner is by all means sufficient for a lot of postproduction applications as well.
The heart of the SteadyFrame Universal Format Scanner is the software based PRS™ (Perforation Recognition System). The replacement of mechanical image stabilisation modules with software based pattern recognition algorithms provides several important advantages: Careful handling of archive film through the whole process due to sprocket-free transport, the handling of different perforation patterns (e.g. 3perf or 2perf), perforation types and pitches (e.g. BH, KS, CS1870) and film formats (e.g. positive, negative and intermediate) on any base i.e. Nitrate, Cellulose Acetate Base etc.
Beside the technical aspects of the initial step for the digital preservation and restoration – the scan process - we are developing a conclusive concept for an automated workflow from the data management to the scan, the preservation, the restoration up to the distribution or archiving. We are very happy to welcome you to present our concept and ideas and receive your input on booth 7.H01.
