3D Workshop by Florian Maier uses P+S Technik 3D Stereo Rig

Los Angeles/Vancouver/New York City. The official P+S Technik reseller ZGC, Inc. located in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, U.S.A., presented a series of three day 3D Workshops conducted by Florian Maier of 3D Consult (www.3d-consult.eu) located in Munich. Mr. Maier performs similar workshops in his studio in Germany.

Kicking off the workshops in Los Angeles, California, continuing on to Vancouver. B.C. and finally ending in New York City we met a wide cross section of people interested in working with 3D from students to seasoned directors of photography. The content ranged from 3D theory, learning how to shoot good 3D footage and how to avoid diverging the image and creating bad 3D.

The attendees had individual hands-on time with the P+S Technik Stereo Rig to set up a series of shots on their own. Projecting the two camera images simultaneously on a silver screen allowed the camera operators the ability to view their scenes live and make necessary adjustments. The final day of the workshop focused on post production and what editing systems currently handle the 3D workflow and display options.

With sold out workshops, it was exciting to see everyone working together to produce good 3D images. ZGC hopes to continue these workshops in other locations to make the concept of shooting and producing 3D a reality.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 3D workshop taught by Florian.  He was articulate, knowledgeable and accessible.  He was open to questions and took the time we needed to understand the concepts.
I expected it to be a bit of a sales pitch, but in the end did not feel that it was. I do appreciate the opportunity to learn this technology.
