Camin - Camera Interface
The Camin (Camera Interface) is the basic component of the RRC-system. The camin is to be attached to the camera, and allows for controlling of the various lens motors and the operation of various camera types. Both radio and cable operation are possible, the radio reception is built into the body of the camin.
Highlights
Standard Functions
- Control of the Focus/Iris/Zoom
- Automatic calibration
- Display of the camera Status
- Control of camera

The camin offers a very accurate positioning system and smooth motor operation. When a lens is changed the system should be calibrated. This operation is fast and very easy to perform. It is not necessary to specially adjust the motor as it recognizes the end stops automatically.

In addition to the standard lens functions the camin offers numerous extras.

New Lens Functions

Modular Motor Interfaces
Lens motors from different manufacturers (Arri, Scorpio, Denz, Heden, Preston) can be attached to the camin.

Soft Calibration
During calibration, the system identifies the necessary torque of the ring. The motor will then only operate with the necessary torque. Thereby the end stops are well cared for and minimal damage can be done to them. This holds true to all components of the system including the motors. The torque can also be manually given (when used together with the cdisplay)
Electronic Motor Protection
If the Motor position cannot be found, due to error, the motor will be put into standby mode to prevent overloading.
upgrading
The system is equipped to be extended to additional axes.

Camera Functions

Modular Camera Interfaces
The camin offers an abundance of interfaces that can be utilized in the controlling of camera operations such as; the regulation of the speed ramps (cdisplay), synchronization, or the on/off functions for various camera types. One feature includes the automatic recognition of different camera types so that the various on/off functions can be identified for the respective camera. The camin is not tied together with any one specific camera.
The following camera systems are all recognized:

Arri
(435, 535, 16 SRIII)
Arricam
(Standard, Lite)

"old" Arri with 11 pin connector
(16 SR 2, BL3, 35II, BL Evo, etc.)

Moviecam
(Compact, LT)
Aaton
(Minima, 35III)
Dalsa
(Origin)
    divers HD-Cameras
(Thomson , Panasonic, Sony)

Notice: more cameras will be provided on request - the range of functions of the camera control depends on the interface of the camera. The user interface is the same for all cameras.

Minimal external boxes
It might be necessary to obtain different cables in order to operate the LCS/RRC – System and for the application of the system to other camera types. External boxes for the maintenance or use of the camera controlling system are, on the other hand, not necessary.

General and additional Features
- Integration of external motors
External motors (i.e. turntable) can simply be integrated into the system and thereby further increasing the systems usefulness.
- Radio and cable functions
The system contains nine 2,4 GHz radio channels that are recognized worldwide. Two specialized channels allow for the simultaneous use with the transvideo-radiosystem. The average range of the system reaches distances of up to 200 meters in an open field, and in rooms up to 30 meters.
If use is necessary in harsh conditions (e.g. under water) by plugging in the CBUS-cable the system is automatically transferred to its cable function mode.
- Different feed possibilities
The camin functions within the voltage levels 8 – 35 V. Depending on how the system is being used the feed can come from various sources. In the case of multiple energy sources the system will use the one best suited automatically.
- Sturdy and compact construction
The arrangement of all cable sockets has conveniently been placed all on one level in order to prevent disturbances with the camera’s original construction. The camin is well suited for Steadicam operation because of its compact structure and light weight (325g). The system’s construction can also be modified at the customer’s request.
- Flexible mechanical attachment
The casing is equipped with 3/8” drill holes on two sides. This allows the camin to be placed on the camera or on the rods in various positions. The system also offers a quick attachment option to help with the assembly (cfast-camin).
With the help of the cfast-artemis the camin can be fixed to the Sachtler Artemis mount for Steadicams.
- PC Interfaces
The camin is outfitted with a serialized interface.*
